What is wisdom tooth? I know the meaning of this tooth, but it is not correctly explained to me.
Thank you Rati Dey Saha for your question. Wisdom teeth (also known as third molars) are the last teeth of each side of our jaws. We have four segments in our jaws. Upper left, upper right, lower left and lower right. Each segment has 8 teeth. So we have, 8+8+8+8 = 32 teeth in total. Wisdom teeth are the last teeth of each side. They come into the oral cavity usually between 18-25 years of age. With evolution our jaws are getting smaller and smaller in size resulting in difficult and painful eruption of wisdom teeth. Now they have become “all pain and no gain” part of our body.
I strongly recommend you read the following article to get a better idea of what wisdom teeth are all about. Reply if you have any further enquiry. You can ask questions in Bangla, which we strongly encourage so that the same information might benefit other people too.
